National Service Scheme [ NSS] Special Camp was organized by Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College from 16th January to 22nd January, 2023 at Ballur Village,Anekal Taluk, Bengaluru- Karnataka.
NSS was started in 1969 on the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi. The primary object is to foster the personality and character of the student youth through voluntary and community service
"Education Through Service" with the motto "NOT ME BUT YOU".In order to instil ideals of self-discipline and unselfish commitment to community outreach and to foster a sense of social responsibility among students, the NSS Unit has been formed in our institution.The NSS Unit of our college has been helping the students grow individually and also as a group .
The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a government-sponsored programme run by the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. It was created primarily to encourage students to take an active role in nation-building through volunteerism.
NSS Special Camp-This 7 day camp gave us the opportunity to conduct activities like Village Visit, Survey in the village, activities and interaction with the school kids, Sports and Cultural Activities, Swachhta Programs – Shramadhan, Health and Hygiene, Legal Awareness of Women’s and Child Rights, Vocational Training, Child Labour awareness program through skits, ASHA workers have also given awareness programme about health and health related services available at the Anganawadi/ Primary Health Centre for women. Furthermore, our volunteers have educated the school children about a “GOOD TOUCH and BAD TOUCH”, and have given career guidance for government school students of Ballur village.
