Legal Services Clinic-thefunction of the Clinic is to provide free legal aid with the assistance of a panel of advocates from the legal services authorities. A Village has been adopted.At the village, Legal Aid Clinic is set up; the students along with the panel of advocates are helping to make the village litigation free.It also spreads awareness about the welfare legislations and schemes, and strengthens the community’s access to the schemes.
The Clinic also provides Legal Aid at the doors steps; with the help of members of the legal service authorities visit slums and villages imparting legal aid. Legal Literacy programme is scheduled every year, awareness on the rights of Women, Children, Senior Citizens, and Consumers are given to the students and people at large.
All the students ofthe college are the members of Legal Aid Club.
Part IV Entry II of the Bar Council of India Rules on Legal Education makes it mandatory for all colleges to have a functional Legal Services Clinic. The Legal Services Clinic at Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College is set up in pursuance to this provision.
