Orientation Day 2022-2023

Day 1 : 31/10/2022
Session 1:
The Session One of Orientation Programme began with greetings and a formal welcome to the new batch of students and the parents. This session was graced by Rev. Vincent Vinod Kumar, Secretary – Karnataka Central Dioceses, Vice-President Board of Management and Presbyter-In-Charge St. Mark’s Cathedral. The Principal-In-Charge Prof.Dr.Indirani K.S in her address extended a warm welcome and introduced the guest on behalf of the Staff and Students of BCWCLC.
Session 2:
The second session began with an Interactive Session with Alumni of Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College which included Ms.Deepa, Ms.Madhumitha and many others joining through virtual platform who eased students by clarifying their queries about life after law school, ‘How Lawyers Think’ and the importance of choosing Law Profession and this prestigious institution.
Session 3:
The Principal-In-Charge Prof. Dr.Indirani K.S on behalf of the Chairman, Board of Management, Staff and students of BCWCLC, spoke about the steady growth of the college over the years and the focus on imparting holistic development to students. This was followed by the highlights of the college which included the introduction of Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff. The college rules and regulations were briefed to the students and were also given with insights on the various Clubs and Cells functioning in the college.


Day 2 : 02/11/2022
Session 1:
The speaker for this session was Dr.Valarmathi, Professor, Christ Deemed to be University addressed on the topic Law and its Purpose. The speaker covered various topics related to What is Law, Importance of Law, Fundamental functions of Law, Kinds and enforcement of Law for our life. The session was interactive and useful for the students.
Session 2:
The resource person for this session was Prof. Arunagiri, who enlightened the students on the topic Legal History. Sir covered the evolution of law from Maurayan period to the present scenario with various insights on different types of court and many other topics, which helped the young students to understand the evolution of law better.


Day 3 : 03/11/2022
Session 1:
This session was taken by Ms. Mary Sukumari, Libarian – Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College on the topic Library and its Uses. This session helped the students to understand how the library is an important part of every educational institution and it contains a wide range of resources vital for the students.
Session 2:
The second part of the day 3 session was addressed by Mr. Chandrasekhar Patil – Zonal Head Sales – Manupatra Information Solutions Pvt Ltd on the topic Manupatra – Usage of Online Sources. The resource person enlightened the students about the largest Indian database for Online Legal Research which covers all Indian case laws from various courts.


Day 4 : 04/11/2022
Session 1:
The resource person for this session was Dr.AnithaPatil, Faculty - M S Ramaiah Law College, Bengaluru. The speaker addressed the students on the topic – Legal Research. Dr.AnithaPatil shared that each step of a course of action that begins with an analysis of facts of a problem and concluded with the application. The session was useful for the students to understand the process of identifying and retrieving information necessary to support legal decision-making.
Session 2:
The resource person for this session was Ms.Mishal Ann James – Faculty, Bishop Cotton Women’s Christian Law College, Bengaluru. The speaker addressed the students on the topic – Moot Court and its advantages. The speaker covered on the various topics related to mooting and its significance for law students in shaping their career. The students were also shown sample of Moot court memorial and also explained how to prepare for various Moot Court competitions.


Day 5 : 05/11/2022
This program was much excited schedule for the students. It was all about ‘Gamification’- Management games. An innovative way of learning that has caught student’s attention. The session was used for interactive and fun ways of learning which had numerous benefits. The management games such as Caterpillar, Robotic Team, Fish and Fishermen and Flying pen was conducted and the outcomes of these games were to build teamwork, coordination, enhancing communication skills, developing strategy and problem solving skills through playing fun games.
